Fabulous Finds

I have a problem.  I work wayyy too close to Target.  I have time to run over there on my lunch break.  How much damage can you do in 30 minutes at Target? Unfortunately the answer for me is, a lot. I am a dollar section junkie! This way I can get lots of cool stuff without having a big bill at the end (however, I almost always stray from the dollar section and continue browsing).
Check out my favorite find from the dollar section at Target this week!
We used the mailboxes to target a variety of goals! I used my new Webber classifying cards to have students sort them into categories (each mailbox had a different category picture on).  We used them for phonemic awareness/artic in one of my KDG groups.  I would say the target word and show the students the picture and then I would have the students look and listen and see whose sound(s) the word contained, then the students repeated the word and put the card into their mailbox.  As you can see from the picture, we also used them to sort our different S-blends. After doing the "work" part we had lots of fun picking people to mail them to! A popular person to receive our mail was Santa!

I recently had our building engineer hang 2 bulletin boards in my room.  While I was at Target I found these awesome, really BIG pushpins! As you can see I had created "sound rings" for my students using the reproducible pages from the Webber Jumbo Articulation Drill Book (I copied the pages and had them laminated, then we use dry erase markers to do drill practice as a "warm up" every day).  I used to have them all in a big messy drawer, but I was able to organize them this way...yay! So much easier to find!
As you can see I also have my inferencing for a year up on my bulletin board too! I absolutely LOVE this product created by the Speech Bubble! You have to check it out! I also have my ABC book I created in Boardmaker (couldn't live without it).  I am just starting to use The Literacy Link hand symbols with my students to help with phonemic awareness and articulation.  I created my own ABC book because I wanted to use the same words that the KDG classes use on their "linking chart" (chart they use to practice their alphabet) to provide consistency.

My last great find was this basket (not even on sale, but only about $5.00)! I used it to organize my articulation cards/activities.  I actually wish I would've bought more (a great excuse to go back, right?!)  This way my cards are all sorted AND easy to grab off the shelf. Now lets see if they can stay this organized.

Happy Sunday, hope you all have a fabulous week!
