Speech Trading Post

I am so excited to be participating in the Speech Trading Post! Several TPT sellers matched up and traded products in order to review them and then give one copy away to a lucky reader! I was lucky enough to get paired up with Denise Polly from Speech Language Pirates and she recommended her WH Question Scenes: Interactive Book and I am sooo happy she did because I absolutely loved it and if you keep reading you will find out why AND see how you can enter to win your very own copy!

I work in an elementary school with students aged K-6th grade. Although this book does take some time to assemble, it is totally worth the time! It is so versatile! I am using it to target: WH Questions, increasing MLU, pronouns, articles, and prepositions/basic concepts. The part I love most about this interactive book are the VISUALS! There are visuals for everything (scenes, questions, and answers)! I also really like the functional vocabulary and variety of scenes to be used year-round.

Wh Question Scenes: Interactive Book

At the time I took these photos, the "book" was not fully assembled because I couldn't decide exactly how I wanted to "bind" the pages together. However, even without being "bound" the book was still equally functional. You can find more details on TPT, but here's a sample page set up with the question and answer strip attached to the bottom (the answer strip is color coded blank boxes, the student puts the actual words on).

Below you see pictures of where I went "rogue" and decided to modify the materials to best meet the needs of some of my older students. I cut apart the answer strips and attached five to help increase MLU. On the left, you can see how easily the questions can be stored on the back of the previous page.

This activity is a bargain because of the high volume of questions, visuals, and variety of skill it targets, but if you are interested in winning one, please comment on the facebook post that brought you to this page with your favorite type of WH question to practice during therapy (mine would be "why" questions)!
